Yes, I really do carry out small electrical jobs!
Finding an electrician for those smaller jobs around the house can sometimes be harder than it should be.
Maybe you've got a light fitting that needs replacing, a socket you'd like moved, a faulty switch, a couple of new downlights or just a list of electrical jobs that you've been meaning to get sorted.
These are exactly the sort of jobs I carry out every week.
I'm a registered electrician based in Corsham and I carry out domestic electrical work across Bath, Chippenham and the surrounding areas.
What counts as a small electrical job?
There's no definitive list, but some of the common jobs I get asked to help with include:
- Replacing light fittings
- Adding or replacing sockets
- Replacing switches
- Installing or replacing downlights
- Outdoor sockets and lighting
- Fault finding
- Smoke alarms
- Small electrical alterations

You might not even need me to visit to quote if its a small job.
Send me some information and photos of what you'd like done and, depending on the work, I may be able to provide a fixed price from those. (usually I'll need a photo of the fuseboard too)
If I need to see a little more, we can sometimes arrange a WhatsApp video call.
For work that does need looking at properly beforehand, I'll arrange a visit and provide you with a written fixed-price quote.
What can you expect from me?
Being a smaller job doesn't mean you should receive a lesser service.
When I book an appointment with you:
I'll turn up when I say I will.
You'll receive booking reminders beforehand and a message when I'm on my way.
You'll know what the work is going to cost.
I always provide a written, fixed fee quote. The price you pay won't change unless the scope of the work changes.
I'll look after your home.
I use custom work mats and floor protection where required, take care while carrying out the work and hoover the work area when I'm finished. Your home should be left as I found it (or cleaner).
The work will be completed properly.
Small electrical jobs still need to be installed and tested correctly. Something as simple as replacing a light fitting can uncover unsuitable connections or previous installation problems.
Small jobs can still uncover electrical problems. Sometimes a job that looks straightforward isn't quite as straightforward once I start taking things apart. I've come across incorrectly installed light fittings, unsuitable junctions, old wiring and a myriad of other problems while carrying out what started as a simple electrical job. That doesn't mean every small job turns into a big one. It does mean it's worth having the work carried out by somebody who knows what they're looking at. If I find something that concerns me, I'll explain it to you and give you honest advice about what, if anything, needs doing.
