Has your storage heater or immersion heater stopped working?

If they have stopped working then it could quite simply be something like resetting the thermal overload switch. A thermal overload switch is an essential safety switch that works by monitoring the temperature and cutting off the power supply to the elements if they exceed their set limit.
With immersion elements they're typically on the element casing and can be reset with a toothpick. Storage heaters are little trickier as you'd have to remove the front cover of the heater to get access to the controls. In either scenario it's always worth ensuring the power is safely isolated as you'd have access to live parts. If in doubt, always contact your trusted local electrician.
If you find your thermal overload switches are tripping out regularly then they could be faulty. Usually however it is because people are drying their clothes on, or too close to the heaters or they've filled their immersion tank cupboard to the brim with linen!
